Assistant Professor
Dr. Joe Abdel Hay is an Assistant professor of Neurosurgery at the LAU Gilbert
and Marie-Rose Chagoury School of Medicine. His clinical and surgical practice
focuses on treating traumatic head and spine injuries as well as common brain
and spine tumors and degenerative spine diseases including spine
instrumentation.
Dr. Abdel Hay earned his medical degree from the University of Saint Joseph
(USJ) School of Medicine in 2013. He completed a Neurosurgery residency at
Hôtel-Dieu de France with a final year in Dijon-France in 2019. He then pursued
a Spine Surgery fellowship at Hospices Civils de Lyon, Lyon-France in 2020
before joining LAU Medical Center – Saint John Hospital faculty in 2021.
Dr. Abdel Hay also holds a University Diploma in Microsurgery and a master’s
degree in Biological and Medical Research from the University of Saint Joseph
(USJ). Dr. Abdel Hay has multiple peer-reviewed articles in the field of Spine
Surgery and reconstructive cranial surgery and was awarded “Neurosurgery Top
Paper of The Year 2018” by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (USA) for one
of his publications.
