Assistant Professor
Dr. Antoine Charbel is an Orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of
experience. His areas of expertise include but are not limited to traumatology,
sports injuries, foot and ankle surgery, hand surgery, prosthetic surgery, and
pediatric surgery.
Dr. Charbel earned his medical degree at the Saint Joseph University in Beirut,
in 1989. He subsequently pursued Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Residency
training at the Université Joseph Fourier, Centre Universitaire Hospitalier de
Grenoble in France in 1996.
Dr. Charbel then completed, at the same institution, three subspecialties in
Pediatric Orthopedics, Foot and Ankle Surgery, and Orthopedics Sports Medicine.
Dr. Charbel began his professional career in 1993 at the Centre
Hospitalo-Universitaire de Grenoble, Hôpital-Sud in France, before moving back
to Lebanon in 1999. He has lately joined the Lebanese American University
Medical Center – Saint John’s Hospital (LAUMCSJH).
Throughout his career, Dr. Charbel was constantly involved in medical and
surgical clinical practice, teaching activities, and participation in various
international meetings, congresses, and workshops. He participated in more than
20 live TV talk-shows on local channels mainly discussing hallux valgus, foot
deformities in children and adults, genu varum, genu valgum, club foot
deformity, arthroscopic and prosthetic surgery, and osteoporosis.
In 2006, Dr. Charbel took part of a large-scale surgical project directed by
INTEGRA in France, leading to the release of the B-BOP Basal Osteotomy Plating
System for the correction of Hallux Valgus deformity.
Dr. Charbel is a former member of the Collège Français des Chirurgiens
Orthopédistes et Traumatologue (CFCOT), and a current member of the Lebanese
Orthopedic Association LOA since 2001.
