Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Joumana Kmeid obtained her M.D degree from the Lebanese University, Faculty
of Medical Sciences in June 2009.
Following her graduation, she completed a 3-year residency training in Internal
Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB)-Medical Center, followed by
a 2-year fellowship training in Infectious Diseases. She graduated successfully
from that program in June 2014.
Dr. Kmeid subsequently joined the Scholars in Health Research Program (SHARP) at
AUB, and received, in July 2014, a certificate in non-communicable diseases
research. She then moved to the USA in October 2014 to pursue a 1-year
postdoctoral fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas MD
Anderson Cancer Center.
In April 2016, she started her clinical career at Bareen International Hospital
in Abu Dhabi, UAE where she practiced as an Infectious diseases specialist as
well as Infection Control chairperson until December 2017, after which she
returned to Lebanon and joined in January 2018 Keserwan Medical Center (KMC).
Dr. Kmeid maintained her position at KMC until she was recruited by the LAU
Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine as a full time faculty in 2021 with a rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases".
